Austen in AutumnMentor Public Library is celebrating everything Jane Austen this Autumn.

Registration is required for all of the programs except the Austen in Autumn Film Fest at the Atlas Cinemas Great Lakes Stadium 16 in Mentor and most of the book discussions.  These programs do not require registration. Rocky Horror Picture Show- 40th Anniversary

In this cult classic, sweethearts Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon), stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry), a transvestite scientist. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker (Meat Loaf) and a creepy butler (Richard O'Brien). Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named "Rocky." 40 years later, experience the original again on the big screen at the Atlas Great Lakes Stadium 16 in Mentor!

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD

Night of the Living Dead, written and directed by George Romero, is a 1968 independent black-and-white horror film. Ben (Duane Jones) and Barbara (Judith O’Dea) are the protagonists of a story about the mysterious reanimation of the recently dead, and their efforts, along with five other people, to survive the night while trapped in a rural Pennsylvania farmhouse.

PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE

Widely regarded as the worst film ever made, Plan 9 from Outer Space is Ed Wood's beloved camp masterpiece. Originally titled Grave Robbers from Outer Space, this film is a 1958 science fiction/horror film written and directed by Edward D. Wood, Jr. The film features Bela Legosi, Gregory Walcott, Mona McKinnon, Tor Johnson and Maila "Vampira" Nurmi.

New this year: Co-presentation with the Cleveland Jewish Film Fest for a terrific film "My Italian Secret" A riveting true story of Italian citizens who risked their own lives to defy the Nazis, saving 80% of the Italian Jews in Italy. Among those spotlighted is Tour de France champion cyclist Gino Bartali who smuggled fake identity documents in the frame of his bicycle for Jews hiding in convents and monasteries. Another gripping story highlights Dr. Giovanni Borromeo who invented a fictitious disease at the hospital where he hid Jews resulting in the Nazis not entering the hospital in fear of contracting the ‘disease.’ A captivating film of forgotten Italian heroes of nobility, clergy, farmers, diplomats and ordinary people whose great courage and empathy for their fellow human beings overcame their fear of being caught. Narrated by Isabella Rossellini.
