New this year: Co-presentation with the Cleveland Jewish Film Fest for a terrific film "My Italian Secret" A riveting true story of Italian citizens who risked their own lives to defy the Nazis, saving 80% of the Italian Jews in Italy. A riveting true story of Italian citizens who risked their own lives to defy the Nazis, saving 80% of the Italian Jews. Among those spotlighted is Tour de France champion cyclist Gino Bartali who smuggled fake identity documents in the frame of his bicycle for Jews hiding in convents and monasteries. Another gripping story highlights Dr. Giovanni Borromeo who invented a fictitious disease at the hospital where he hid Jews resulting in the Nazis not entering the hospital in fear of contracting the ‘disease.’ A captivating film of forgotten Italian heroes of nobility, clergy, farmers, diplomats and ordinary people whose great courage and empathy for their fellow human beings overcame their fear of being caught. Narrated by Isabella Rossellini.
